Meet the team

Dr. Christy Swann is an Earth and Planetary scientist building innovative technology to measure coastal change. She began mapping beaches during her Bachelor’s and Master’s, and, during her Ph.D., started building her own instruments. One instrument design landed her a NASA-funded Postdoctoral Fellowship to unravel the fundamental physics of windblown sand on Mars, work which won her two national awards for research excellence. Dr. Swann has published 26+ scientific articles, and has been awarded over $3.5M in funding. She has also been an Associate or Guest Editor at 2 high impact journals and serves on multiple review panels for NASA and Navy. Over the last 7 years, she has conducted coastal science for naval operations, and designed technologies to measure windblown sand processes on Earth and Mars. Dr. Swann co-founded RCOAST to make eroding coastlines more resilient.

Trey Cloutier is a solution-based strategist holding degrees in Electrical Engineering and English. As a senior project engineer, he has designed, planned, and executed multi-million dollar projects for high-profile venues across the U.S. His on-the-fly problem-solving has been critical for large commercial entities like Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile to ensure successful project completion in the face of unforeseen roadblocks and strict project deadlines. Eager for climate solutions, he has also designed an autonomous, environmentally controlled irrigation system to reduce water waste, maximize energy efficiency and customize irrigation for optimal growth conditions. Trey co-founded RCOAST, a sustainability company to automate coastal monitoring and provide risk assessment and adaptive mitigation strategies.
